About Us

WE LISTEN TO THE INNER VOICE, THE LAST VOICE, THE COLLECTIVE VOICE

Who we are

Who we are

Disom — The Leadership School is a movement that nurtures future political and social ‘Servant Leaders’.

The school is a lived experience of deep democracy; intense, peer-based and self-driven. It encourages leadership that shares responsibilities and decision-making with communities and constituencies with humility, compassion and grace. It fosters leaders who are driven by a spirit of service and see power as a means to achieve shared wellbeing.

Disom, the word, originates in Jharkhand (Disom in Santali and Disum in Ho and Mundari). Disom is the homeland of one’s soul; a land of indigenous values where governance is collective conscience, where Nature is of the highest value, and where community comes before self. We are Disom, because we have embarked on a journey with leaders whose identity lies not in the markers of birth and belief; it thrives in the service of the people and the planet.

By design, Disom does not have a campus; we wish to be as expansive and as mobile as we can. We operate out of campuses of our partner organisations across the country.

Our Mission

Our Mission

In our consultations with people over a hundred geographies, we hear a recurring voice: India must reimagine its social, economic and political spaces to enrich justice, equality, empathy and oneness.

By 2047, Disom aspires to facilitate One Thousand Dream Missions of high impact and integrity, steered by One Thousand Leaders, guided and strengthened by all the alumni, facilitators and on-the-ground partners. The journey, that begins with the inner self and expands thereon, will be based on the core values and guiding principles of the Indian Constitution.

Our Vision

Our Vision

Disom nurtures leaders

who draw inspiration from their inner voice and are guided by it, unflinchingly;

whose passion is to serve rather than to accrue power;

who can build bridges across formidable ideological barriers;

who are humble, trustworthy and open to own up mistakes;

who can address the challenges of the planet in a holistic manner;

and who believe in the power of an awakened citizenry.
